This is a linear walk from Dent St to Ribblehead of 9 miles, we walk up the coal road from Dent St for a mile, and then take a bridleway to the top of Artengill beck. From there a short uphill over Wold Fell, and then dropping down to the Dent head Rd. From there we walk on the Ribble and Dales way to Gearstones, the last section is on the road to Ribblehead.
To do this walk a short ride on the train is needed from Ribblehead, catch the 10.36 train and meet me on the train, as i shall be on the train from Bingley.
There is plenty of free parking at Ribblehead.
After the walk we can have a meal at the St Inn, when i know the numbers i can book a table.

Dave will also be coming on the walk.
KTKath_TWill join you are the start and meet you at the end and would love to join the meal.
CCorrieWould love to have joined you but it is the same day as I’m
gogoing4goldCompeting in the world masters mountain running championships in Italy so will have to just think of you all whilst I haul myself up a mountain.
Meal please afterwards!
It's the day before we drive up to Scotland, Suilven, Stac Polhaid, etc but Gill and I planning to come.
SMSaltyMcSaltfaceI’ll be recovering from an op so will depend on my fitness levels by then but hopefully will be able to join for at least part of the day.
SaltyMcSaltface: Would you want to join the meal after the walk?
on 04/08/25 @ 20:28Fiddle: If your not up to doing the full walk would you want a meal afterwards?
Yes that would be nice.
With the numbers we have for meals these have to be pre ordered, that's what i found out when i called in at the Station Inn on a bike ride today, have sent them an email, so just waiting for a response.
on 08/08/25 @ 19:26I have attached copy of menu from the Station Inn, so could you let me know what your choice is, but as Kath has pointed out don't have a starter as that delays the main course for those that are not having a starter. There is also a £5.00 deposit for each person which is refunded on the day.
Baked camembert please... It's a starter or small portion but I'll have as a main as vegetarian mains choice limited. Thanks. How do we send you the £5 deposit?
I would like to join you on this walk but I might be a bit slow. I managed Goat Fell last May but I was shattered at the end. There is much less ascent on this walk. Is it OK if I come?
RCRoland_CRoland_C: Yes that's fine, the longest ascent is from Dent St up the coal rd for a mile, and then it has slight ups, but mostly downhill to Ribblehead. The last section is on a road, so if you are slow maybe someone with a car could drive up and collect you.
on 10/08/25 @ 7:35Would you want a meal after the walk?
Wild Adventuress: I think the best way is bank transfer,i will at some point send you a private chat with bank details, then on the day it will be £5.00 of the meal.
Hi Helvellyn40,
RCRoland_CI have booked a B & B near Ingleton for Saturday and Sunday nights. I would like a meal after the walk on Sunday.
Roland_C: Could you let me know what you want from the menu as they have to be pre booked with the given numbers, also there is a £5.00 deposit needed which refunded on the day, so will send a private chat to all those who wish to have a meal with my bank details.
Helvellyn40: Steak and Ale Pie followed by Apple and Berry Crumble
RCRoland_CCould all those that want a meal let me know from the above attached menu ASAP, as i want send the pre order form and pay the £ 5.00 deposit by next monday.
Helvellyn40: Yes, Gill and I will eat. We're going to camper-van at the Station Inn if there's room, nearby if not. I'm emailing Gill the menu and will let you know mains and send deposits when we get youre bank info.
SMSaltyMcSaltfaceI just require a menu choice from Bev, i sent you a private chat, but i suspect you haven't had a notification, as in most cases i don't receive a notification and have to log in to know if i'v been sent a private chat.
on 18/08/25 @ 8:17Deposit paid and menu choice sent to the St Inn, thanks to those who have sent me your menu choice and deposit.
I'm slow at the moment due to various leg injuries! I'll see how I am on Sunday but may do some of the walk then catch the train back maybe? I'm away doing ecology surveys and hiking abroad from mid September and need to recover before then.
Got to John's funeral. Amazing man. Right knee caput so will miss this walk but so glad others will lead the near plethora of events John left us.
Wild Adventuress: I think Corrie is just doing a short section of the walk from the start, so you could walk back to Dent St with her.
I think I might need to miss this but hope you have a good time.
I will see you all on the train tomorrow morning at 10.36, please note that there is plenty of parking at Ribblehead, but some of it is a fair walk from the station, so please arrive in plenty time to catch the train, i will try and be in the first carriage of the train.
