Sunny Speyside: No need to feel guilty since many will benefit from the bird feeder and the sparrowhawk will feed wherever it can. Elsewhere or in the garden, it's no better for the prey if we don't see it happening.

Yes I feel a bit guilty about topping up the feeders when it invites this kind of carnage. I stopped replenishing the fish pond when I realised I was just providing tasty treats for the heron, but it would be a shame if I had to stop feeding the birds, I get such a variety and they are lovely to watch.

Nice to see one but perhaps not if it's eating one of your favourite visitors to the bird feeder.
