I got to the top of Sgurr nan Gillean in 2006. We did some of the 'easy 😮' bits of the Cuillin Ridge - I knew I was in trouble when the guide gave out climbing helmets and harnesses, saying, 'Put these in your rucksack - you might need them later!' 😮😮

I was camping at Invergarry, with a friend who was even less of a mountaineer than me. As well as The Saddle, we climbed Ben Nevis by the Pony Track. We also reached the bottom of the south-east ridge (Tourist Route 😮 Ha! Ha!) on Sgurr nan Gillean, but turned back due to bad weather (probably just as well in view of what we would have encountered ahead!) I tried to get her to the top of Sgurr Beag instead, but we turned back from that too as she was cold and becoming nervous.

I was also on The Saddle in 2003 but not via the Forcan Ridge. We also did Sgurr na Sgine and there we got roped into the Wateraid Munro challenge for that year. The challenge was to get a team of at least 4 onto every Mumro summit that day. One of the team doing Sgurr na Sgine had not turned up and we were the only others on the mountain so after a few bribes we joined their team thereby ensuring the success of the challenge. I have been a Wateraid supported ever since.

Well done John! I was there in 2003. We bypassed the steep 😮 (grade 2) scramble down from Sgurr na Forcan!

I think the hill that Gatepostgazer is referring to is probably Pared y Cefn-hir.

Interesting hill, could be on the north east side of Carnedd Dafydd, but that's a guess.
