Home, intentionally boring.

Most people will be familiar with the tidal bore on the River Severn, one of the highest in the world. People in my local area will also be familiar with the bore on the River Kent at Arnside. There is also a small bore on the stream which runs into the bay past my house and here it is coming in today.

I learnt some new words/expressions from him that day! 😮 (He was an RSM in the war - think of a cross between BSM Williams, Alf Garnett and Victor Meldrew. 😂)

I stayed at Silverdale on my first visit to the Lake District (I would have been about 8 years old), and I remember seeing Arnside Tower. But the thing that really sticks in my memory about that holiday is going out in a rowing boat on Windermere with my dad - we got caught in a thunderstorm, 😮 then lost (but eventually retrieved) an oar and nearly capsized while changing seats so that he could row back (more quickly than me), before hitting the shore so hard that he fell backwards into the bottom of the boat which by that time contained a lot of water. 😂😂
