The Hostel at Tarfside is owned by the Diocese of Brecin and is available for private hire, even one or two as in my case and gives the opportunity of a base for really good walks

Hi Ruth.It is a really wildly wonderful area. There is a wood burning stove, but only damp wood when i was there. The section from Braemar to Tarfside also takes in the Gelder shiel Bothy below Lochnagar and is not really challenging, but at 30 degrees was a little to warm for me.The hostel is great and had the place to ourselves
