I think it is difficult to be sure and I do not claim to be a fungi expert. The little of the gills that can can be seen appear to be brown.

I didn't think so Roland but hard to tell without seeing the gills, stem and profile. Also need to know the area it was found in. I thought it was a trichloma agryraceum which is edible but not that tasty. Cardinal rule in mushroom foraging, if in doubt, don't eat.

I think it is the Brown Rollrim or Paxillus Involutus, which is very poinsonous.
