Wilderness Walking in Scotland, the Largest National Park in UK

Wow, this is the Big One: Cairngorms, the largest national park in UK. 26 & 28 August 2017. What do you think of this place? Have you been? Whats your experience of this place?

Thanks Ian for your reflections and experiences of Craingorms National Park. I plan to hike there. As it is twice the beauty and size of Lake District. I will tackle it with a few trips to the West way of the highlands. I have started with Stirling West Ward hiking 5 days last September. I had a hiking instructor with me last year. She knew the area very well. I will arrange to go to the Craingorms with her team.😀

I walked the Cape Wrath Trail in 2007,a wonderful journey with the weather expected for the 4 days from Fort William to Kinloch Hourn,each morning sliding cold wet socks into cold wet boots.The Cairngorms were quite an experience,a 21 mile glacial valley from Aviemore to Bremaer,with the Courer Bothy half way.Assynt is a really lovely area,with a series of isolated mountain lochans on the way to Kylesque,quite a distance from the Cairngorms,but never the less an experience to be cherished🙂

The Cairngorms must be much larger than I thought if it includes Assynt 🤔
