This is an important part of the search.
For dating your gender preferences are more critical than for friendships. Clearly set the "Who Is Seeking A" option to your own gender, and the "I Am Seeking A" option to your preferred sexual preference.
For friendships you will probably click both of the "Either" boxes, unless you sepcifically prefer the company of a particular gender.
If you select "Dating" you will pull up all those who have chosen "Dating Only" as well as those that have chosen "Dating OR Friendship" when setting up their profile. To put it another way; the "Friendship Only" profiles will be removed.
Similarly, if you select "Friendship" you will pull up all those who have chosen "Outdoor Friendship Only" as well as those that have selected "Dating OR Friendship" when setting up their profile. To put it another way; the "Dating Only" profiles will be removed.
Choosing "Dating OR Friendship" here will bring up everyone regardless of the profile choice in this selection.
When doing a search by height the system returns a height in a band 4" (10cm) either side of your selected height. Thus if you choose 6' 0"/1.83m the result will return profiles between and including 5' 8"/1.73m and 6' 4"/1.98m.
If you want someone taller than you or around your height choose a height say 2"/5cm bigger than you.
If you want someone shorter than you or around your height choose a height say 2"/5cm shorter than you.
Though don't be too choosy, personality and interests can overcome a few inches.
This is a "Greater Than" selection. i.e. If you choose "College" profiles with education up to high school will be excluded, whereas post college education will be included.
I guess this is only really useful if you are "Tea Total" and have an issue with others drinking around you.
