New Year in Northumberland .... Day three
Mon 31st Dec 2018
So, the plan for today is, we have a 15 minute bus ride to Tweedmouth, just over the bridge from Berwick. We walk for a little while along a road but with the estuary to our left. The Northumbria Coastal path will then take us past the small seaside resort of Spittal, onto cliffs, through sand dunes, on lanes and over fields. Depending on the tides, I hope to have some stretches of beach walking too. On reaching the mainland edge of the causeway to Holy Island we follow the path which will return us to our Hostel via the Barn at Beal. This walk is 11-12 miles, on easy paths. The weather today was gorgeous, blue sky, frosty and light breezes. This is not always the case, so please wrap up warm and have the usual stuff for keeping dry. There is very little shelter en route. No toilets either so I’m expecting that we will all use our initiative when necessary
I’m doing a couple of curries for our evening meal and am wondering if everybody else would like to chip in with other stuff.
Deserts and savoury and sweet snacks might keep us going.
If we can move after this............
The Lindisfarne Hotel near the Hostel say we should be able to squeeze in for drinks and live music.
