A camping pitch is going spare at the moment. Contact catwalker for details.
Itinerary now added. please read.
I love this gem of an area on the Yorkshire coast. Not only is it blessed with great coastal scenery but has the most spectacular sea bird show on the English mainland. You can be marvelled by "gannet city" or be delighted by puffins only a few feet away. Plenty of other species to see plus seals basking on the rocks.
The campsite is the Grange on Bempton Lane, YO15 1AS. Only a short walk in to Flamborough from here. Alternatively there are B & Bs in Flamborough and at this time of year plenty of B & Bs in Bridligton for as little as £35/night.
Two walks planned, on Saturday a walk from Fridaythorpe on the Yorks Wolds. Fridaythorpe is on the A166, YO25 9RT. Free parking around the duck pond. This will be about 10 miles with a couple of surprisingly steepish climbs. In the evening we can have a meal at a restuarant in one of the attractive Wold villages (to be decided). Start time 10.30.
On Sunday a coastal walk to Bempton Cliffs (stop at Bird sanctuary so bring your camera) then round Thornwick bay, North landing, Flamborough head, South Landing. The walk is 13 miles but there are drop off points for people who don't wish to do the full 13 miles. Meet on Dog and Duck square YO15 1NA for a 10.30 start.
For the really keen they can arrive early on Friday morning and watch the summer solstice sun rise over the North Sea at Flamborough head. I might do that myself.
Those wanting B&B should really be looking now, especially if they want Flamborough. There is still plenty of accomodation in Bridlington but that is 4 miles away. Flamborough is a bit more select though. Accomodation in Brid' on Booking.com as little as £30 per night B & B.
Camping rates can be found on the Grange web site. Those wanting pitches should start booking. There are cottages on site and a farnhouse but the rates are:
Farmhouse 3 nights (sleeps 12) £1400
1 bed Cootage 3 nights £300
2 bed Cottage 3 nights £425
I wont be booking these.
Camping pitch with EHU is £23/night.
As I said it's gone up market since last I stayed.
I have booked mine.
If anyone can't find a camping pitch contact me.
