Hello. Hopefully you will be able to make this excellent route through some really great Surrey countryside. It takes in the 3 highest points in the county and passes by many other points of interest. We will start from outside The Running Horses at Mickleham for 9 'o' clock. There is some parking on the street near the pub or at other points just off the road nearby. There is also some limited free parking at Box Hill/Westhumble station (short walk to start required).
From Mickleham we will head for the Box Hill viewpoint. Next down to and then over the stepping stones to pick up the North Downs Way running alongside Denbies vineyard.
Once past the vineyard it's a fairly lengthy stretch to Holmbury Hill. On the plus side though it is through some lovely undulating wooded Surrey countryside. After soaking in the view at Holmbury Hill (weather permitting) we will next head to Leigh Hill. Yet another fabulous view and an optional climb to the top of Leigh Hill Tower.....if you have the energy left that is.....(£2 NT).
Ok folks nearly finished. We will then head for the finish line at Holmwood station. From here catching the train back to Box Hill/Westhumble (£3.50). It's now just a short walk back to the sanctuary of The Running Horses.....Phew!!
With our feet up by the roaring open fire it will be time to celebrate and recount tales of our epic adventure/achievement with a drink or two and maybe a meal...(TBC).
Bring enough food and drink for the day. Waterproofs, Poles and Headtorch recommended. See you there,
