The Trossachs from 21/09/25 till Saturday 27th.

The start date is now 21/9/25 so people can travel from the South on the Sunday and they can check in to be ready for activities on Monday 22nd. Check out is on Saturday 27th, however if you want to extend your stay then I'd book it early as that's the September weekend which is a big public holiday in Scotland.
The Keltie Bridge site will be our main site, however the Callander Woods park is very close by. When booking the Keltie Bridge site add that you are part of John Harris' group and they will allocate pitches close together.
The Trossachs of Scotland are a wonderful place for walking, mountaineering, cycling and many places of historical interest.
I intend to use one of the camp sites (detailed below) which lie between Callander and Doune where there's also a wide range of other accommodations.
So, why the Trossachs for at least three days and most likely more.
Firstly, for walking and mountaineering there's so much within an hours drive. At least 7 Munros with Ben Lawers (1214m) coming in at the 10th highest Munro. Then there's Ben Ledi (879m), Ben Venue (729m), Ben A'an (461m) and many more with Ben Vorlich and Stoc a'chroin being a fabulous day out. There's also lots of low level walks such as the Bracklin Falls from Callander.
Secondly, cycling. at Aberfoyle (otherwise known as Gravelfoyle, https://www.gravelfoyle.com/ ) there's simply the best gravel tracks in the UK and they compare very favourably with anything in North America, check out there web site. And there's lots of other cycling opportunities such as around Loch Katrine.
Thirdly, places of historical interest. The Trossachs lie on the border between the Lowlands and the Highlands and in the middle ages at Stirling was the first place where you could ford the river Forth, so history abounds. There's Stirling Castle, the Wallace Momument, the Rob Roy Centre and the Bannockburn Visitors' Centre, that should be enough to keep us occupied if the weather isn't kind to us.
Finally, there's the Flanders Moss National Nature Reserve and if you fancy a wee sail then there's the steamship the Sir Walter Scott that sails on Loch Katrine.

All sounds good Paul. I’m going suggest a bit of a get together as a planning meeting with those of us who are local to bingley with a bunch of maps ie you , me, Peter and my friends Pam and Tony .
Another bike ride is part way round Loch Katrine, and an interesting hill of 727 M is Ben Venue, which overlooks Loch Katrine.
going4gold: I can add them as an invite once we have an idea on the weather nearer the time, Ben Ledi i have done twice, but Stob Binnein, will be new ground for me.
I have booked in at Cobleland's campsite near Aberfoyle for 5 nights, as the others around Callander where full.
Helvellyn40: those two mountains sound good . Do you want to add them as associated invites . We can decide on exact itinerary nearer the time when we have a better idea of weather . I’ll research options in collander for a meal out

Iam happy to lead a walk up Ben Ledi and Stob Binniein, Stob Binnien being considerably higher.
There is a MB route north of Callander on an old railway track, also you can cycle on the south side of Loch Venachar, west of Callandar, there is a pub at the west end of Loch Venachar. Callandar has pubs , cafe's shops, a good bakery and butchers if haggis is needed.

Great. Been Lefi is mentioned by John in his intro above someone be great if you could add that as a linked invitation and bd happy to lead . I’m looking at two bike routes - a half and a full day and will chat to friends Pam and Tony about sorting a shorter walk the same day as a big mountain day to give an options for those who don’t want to walk quite so far .
We have a none member who lives in crosshills and is looking for a lift so between us I’m sure we can sort transport for those who need
going4gold: Iam in Scotland at the moment, when i get back home will look into somewhere to stay.
I haven't heard from Bea for a couple of weeks as she was back in Germany.
There is good hill nearby, Ben Ledi, and i believe there are some good MB routes, there is a munro Stob Binnein to the north of the area which i would like to do, would be happy to lead that although haven't done it before,unlike Ben Ledi which i have done twice.
bevdarcy: bevdarcy: As you may know Bev I’ve taken over this invite . If you are local and familiar with the area would you be willing to lead a walk ? I’m looking into bike routes and will post a couple as separate invites . A couple of the guys have electric bikes . I’ll buy an OS map and add it to my phone app but local knowledge would be very helpful especially re cafes !!

Bea is not a full member at the moment so can’t add herself to the invite but is keen to come .and Pam and Tony from Baildon are checking out cottages for the week . So a group coming together

If Keltie Bridge fills up then it wouldn't be too bad if some of us end up on different sites as they aren't too far apart
bevdarcy: As yet, I haven't booked a site, but I think that Keltie Bridge looks the best and it's nearer a lot of the hills. However, I'm not familiar with any of the sites as they are only an hours drive from my home so in the past I've done the hills as day walks.
I'll look into it, however it would be good to hear what anybody else thinks.
