Walk from Hawes, Wensleydale (Wether Fell)

Helvellyn40: great, as I've said, I'm easy as long as it's not tripe 😂😂

JohnH: There are only 3 of us that have expressed an interest in a meal, so there should be no need to book, unless that changes.
The Fountain would my first choice, there is also the chippie which has a restaurant, and do's more than fish.

I'm easy where we go for a meal, late afternoon or ealy evening in October, perhaps we may not need to book, but I'll leave that to Paul or whoever

Any thoughts on a meal after Paul ie timings and whether we need to book a table for a group ?🤔

going4gold: I've checked with the site and you can park up on my pitch for the day with no charge and if there's time I'll put the kettle on. Let me know if you intend to do this as I'll need to let you in at the barrier

The journey time is 1.5 hours but we will need time to park up etc . Any thoughts where we might eat ? It’s Sunday so lots of pubs finish serving after Sunday lunch

going4gold: Just got back from Scotland today so a bit late in replying, yes a 10.00 start is fine by me, maybe we could have a meal after the walk.
I will update the invite to 10.00, sometime tomorrow.

Another possible for me. I would come up in my camper Thurs/Fri and add some walks. I'd thought of the Station Inn as an overnight but could look and CMC too

Helvellyn40: I've just checked with CAMC at Hawes and you can park on my pitch for the day at no charge. And if you come a wee bit early I'll get the kettle on for tea or coffee and my prices are very reasonable 😂😂

Also, we could change the starting place to where you'll be parking your car. Let me look into visitor parking on the CAMC site as it may be free for the day.

going4gold: Yes, an earlier start would suit me especially now that the nights are drawing in. I would prefer 10am rather than 11am.

Helvellyn40: that’s good and perhaps we could bring the start time of the walk forward a bit if your not reliant on public transport as the nights are drawing in and a slightly early start with others staying on site could be good

Helvellyn40: If I'm struggling I can always turn back and take my time on the way down. However, yesterday I tried out my new painkillers regime and had a very brisk hours walk round the town making sure I went up and down as many hills as possible and I didn't have any pain so 🤞and as you've said, let's hope that we get decent weather.

JohnH: Glad you can make the walk, if you find yourself struggling you can always shorten the walk.
Just hope the weather is better than when i did this walk last Sunday, low cloud and driving rain.

going4gold: Yes that's fine, i'v not driven up into the Dales all summer, just been using the train now i have a senior rail card, and of course the bus which is only £2.00.
It will be good to have a catch up, and will arrange time for leaving Bingley nearer the date.

Bigfoot: As you can see above I'll be around for the Saturday and Sunday nights, we can arrange to meet up nearer the time, cheers, John.

I've tried out the new painkillers and I should be able to do the walk OK.
I've booked into the CAMC site on the edge of Hawes for the Saturday and Sunday nights, so I'll be around for both nights.

I'm considering this walk, I've had advice from the local pharmacist about painkillers for the osteoarthritis in my left and if this allows me to walk fairly pain free then I'll come on the walk

I will be staying/camping at YHA Hawes on Saturday night, if anybody else is around.
