Dent/ John Harris deceased
by Chris MurisBit late / a long shot. Does anyone have a note of any walk around Dent led or intended by John. I'm there for walking on 15, 16 and 17 April ie next week and would be glad to know. Thank you. Chris Muris

Hi Chris 🌿
Looks like there are a couple of walks next week in Grassington, which I believe is about an hour from Dent.
@going4gold might be able to share a bit more on those.
Here are the links:

Otherwise, feel free to pop one into the invitations - could be a nice chance to lead a walk in Dent too 😊
Jesse, Co-Admin: thank you although your reply does not have anything to to do with my enquiry. Good luck to you Jesse.
Hi Chris 🌿
on 21/04/26 @ 10:56I misunderstood your question on first read - apologies for that. Reading it again now I see what you meant (a bit late now with it being 21 April, but hopefully still helpful for future reference).
I’ve pulled together John Harris’ walks and will email you the full list directly so you have everything in one place.
Also I'd really love to hear more about the “John walks” from your side, the feedback we’ve seen about him has always been really high praise. A true Outdoor Duo ambassador.
I’ll pop a list below of John's areas as well for anyone else following this thread. 🤍
I don't have anything specific to Dent in John's records, Chris, but here are the walks and trips of his I do have (not exhaustive) - hopefully still useful to you and others:
Yorkshire Dales: walks and cycles from Hawes - a favourite he returned to more than once.
Peak District: Castleton routes via Cave Dale, Mam Tor and Lose Hill; Fairholmes / Ladybower around the Derwent Reservoir. (December 2024)
Lake District: The Coledale Round from Braithwaite - 11 miles, 1,000m ascent, 9 Wainwrights (June 2024)
Arran: two week-long group trips (May 2024 and May 2025) - walking, cycling, camping, wildlife
It would be really special to revisit some of these together one day, a John journey 🤍
Hi Jesse, John still has an invite on Outdoor Duo - Arran 2026. This invite was transferred to me when John died but it's all John's words (I haven't changed anything). It's testament to John that there are so many going and that the Arran invite is still going after 5 years. We will be remembering John on Arran through various events including a geology walk and a music night as John loved both of these things.
on 21/04/26 @ 19:47I also set up a WhatsApp group in John's memory to continue promoting friendships through walking in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. As John worked so hard to keep the invites going on Outdoor Duo (he left 3 on the site when he died) we also try to maintain that connection.
KTKath_TAll members of our group are currently on Outdoor Duo or ex Outdoor Duo and in order to remain open to other people we put the walks on the site if there's enough notice and they're not on the same date as other invites. We've put 5 invites on Outdoor Duo so far and there are another 4 currently on the site including Grassington, the fells near Keswick and the Lake District coast.
Jesse, Co-Admin: thank you.
