In Memory of David Holman (FGiles)
It is with great sadness that we share the news that our long-time member, David Holman (FGiles), sadly passed away following an accident on the River Tweed in Scotland on 24th May.
David was a valued member of the Outdoor Duo community for many years. He shared adventures and friendships through the site, and will be remembered by many who had the pleasure of meeting him.
One of those special connections led him to Ruth, who he met through Outdoor Duo. As Ruth shared, "I got lucky to have met David, he really was a remarkable man."
Our thoughts are with Ruth, David's family, and all of his friends at this incredibly difficult time.
David described himself as someone who loved the outdoors, especially hills and water, and valued meaningful conversations, kindness, and living 'a life less ordinary.' Those who knew him will remember not only the adventures they shared, but also the warmth, friendship and curiosity he brought to them.

I only heard this sad news a few days ago, so shocked and very sad. David joined our Peak District walks whenever he could make it. He was great company - funny stories, full of life and enthusiastic about all his projects. He was very proud of his sons, they will be heartbroken, my heart goes out to them.
So sorry to hear this. I met and walked with David a few times he was a lovely man and loved hearing his cattle stories. My thoughts are with his family and friends x
Walked together a few times in Wales. Lovely guy
I don't think I knew David, but sending thoughts to family and friends. Milvus

Hello Dale, it’s Ruth. I have just re subscribed to chat to you. I’ll send you a private message.
I’ve re subscribed because I’ve read this.
So so shocked and upset, I walked with David and talked to him frequently. Such good company and a truly lovely man. F Giles aka Farmer Giles, many stories about his cattle and his life. His family and loved ones will be heartbroken. So sorry for them all 🥲🥲
I didn't get to meet David but my thoughts are with his family and friends. I've lost some good friends from Outdoor Duo over the last few years and David was clearly another special person that's gone too early.
