Strangers
The Mind is WillingAt the start of every walk I join I'm struck by the number of strangers I see gathering and at the end of the walk sometimes over a drink or two I'm amazed by all the friends I have become surrounded by. In October I will be celebrating 9 years of amazing walks, amazing people and locations I never knew existed! I started out not quite sure why I joined a walking site but ended up thanking God I made the leap of faith. The deap friendships I have made, the laughs along the way and the walks I never thought I could do have made me realise an open mind and welcoming smile can work wonders. 😀

9 years for me too in September. My first walk was in Wales, Pistyll Rhaeadr ,awful wet day organised by KateB but so glad I made the effort and got involved having made some cracking friends and enjoyed many lovely walks, weekends and holidays. Al
Highpeakman: oh no - sussed!!!! I've managed to lock myself out of my car at least another 3 times since. It works a treat everytime! 😋😉😈😈

I remember once Barbara, where Claudette on a walk, pretended she had a bad blister on her foot, so that she could go back on her own to chat up a hunky park ranger!!!! 😉 x

And once cajoled, if I hadn't done Davem's weekend I would never have met the wonderful ladies I have just 3 weeks in Canada nor met the lovely Mr Walker 😉😋

Thankfully, I made my leap of faith back in January 2011 and I've never looked back. I might not do as much on the site these days but that's the beauty of it, you're always made so welcome when you return. Yes it's always changing and evolving but that's a factor in its success... friendships made here are quite special x
7 years this week since my first OD walk! Met some lovely people that day and many since and even though I don't see some very often I have made some very good friends on this site, which is why I am still here. And yes, another Rourky's bash please!!
I have been a member for 9 years and it still continues to be a great site. I have made lifelong friends and had some cracking days and weekends. Met my husband on the site 5 years ago which was fab!!

Same goes for me Claudette, 9yrs in Sept. What a great site with amazing people. Must get back to leading more one day walks and reinstating 'Rourkys Bash' weekends away again.
Gatepostgazer: Kev - no alcohol I promise 😉 It's been awhile since I've done some walks and each time I catch up it makes me feel very happy. Sometimes we just forget to focus on the good things cos they are what we expect. The welcome that a person gets when they join a walk is often what they remember most from the day and it gets them coming back for more.
