Oops typo .. Obviously 2015 should have said 2014, sorry!
Oh and the footage of the Wasdale show was good, I went last year and saw the same events, some of the same shepherds / farmers and probably the same Herdys too! They had better weather in 2013 than 2015 though! ๐
I was given the DVD as a present and it's a very good watch in its intended form. Beautiful cinematography, flows well and doesn't seem too long at all. Yes it was sponsored by Rab and others and this was made clear in the intro / credits. Just like the other films that are 'out there' and shown at mountain festivals.
Yes I would like to climb it again, so Stephen, looking forward to your invite!
๐๐๐
I'll consider putting an invite up for Scafell Pike in early summer. Personally, I would prefer to do it from Seathwaite via the corridor route (rather than the shorter options from Wasdale); the Borrowdale valley is just as easy to get to from the south as Wasdale. But the length of the walk and driving time means that it would be better to include the walk in a weekend trip.
Thanks Stephen was nice to watch, will like to see the rest as Blue John has said.
Thanks again.
For anyone who wants more, have been exchanging messages with Terry Abraham online, there are more DVD's already out or in the pipeline "Helvellyn" with Mark Richards, "Backpacking in the Lake District" & "The Cairngorms in Winter" both with Chris Townsend ๐
Now have found time to watch!
Good share - thanks
Yes the original film is 2 hours approx, the film maker said online it would have been more suited to cut to 1.5 hrs but it doesnt suit BBC4 scheduling. Almost a million people watched it ๐๐
I think the original film was longer than one hour and the version shown on Wednesday was a BBC edit. I also thought it jumped about too much and would probably have been better if it had progressed through the seasons in order, as is the usual style for this type of programme.
I'd be up for that, stayed at that campsite last April, it was lovely but I wasn't very well so i missed out on some of the walking and I want to go back! Go on Stephen, you know you want to!! ๐๐
So Stephen how about putting on an invite to Scafell Pike for all those that saw the film or have wanted to do it for ages. Sometime in early summer.....? ๐
Lovely film thanks Stephen, great photography too.
One day have to try Ill Crag๐
There was only one problem...
It was good work by Terry Abraham, who only came into this after being made redundant 4 yrs ago, also featured Mark Richards, Alan Hinkes & Chris Townsend who have written & made DVD's of the Lakes. The guy who won the beard contest has also featured with Julia Bradbury in Wainwright Walks. Also good to see that it featured the Mountain Rescue & National Trust who both do invaluable work in the area ๐
Beautifully shot film, though I didn't like the way it kept jumping from season to season. I liked the Wasdale focus too, despite Borrowdale being my usual patch. As for gear, I spotted Montane and North Face and the usual Mountain rescue Paramos. So not a Rab conspiracy!
Sitting here waiting for the start. Thanks mate.
Don't forget folks tonight at 9pm on BBC4 to watch the documentary ๐
Thanks for the advise will make a note to watch as that is one of my things to do this year ๐
Thanks Stephen, will record it.
Happy New Year BTW ๐
Already on record..๐ ๐
Will watch or record!๐
