Camera recommendations...

I'm off to Peru in a few weeks and am currently looking for a new camera to take with me. I do have a DSLR but it's too bulky and am looking for something a little more compact.

I'll be without electricity for a week so a camera with a good battery life is paramount. Would prefer it to be usb-charged, but only if the power will last. It also needs to be quite robust, easy to use.

Any advice, recommendations would be much appreciated 🙂

There won't be any charging points, so I better hurry up and make my mind up soon.

Thanks for the recommendation jw19, I'll check it out.

Hi Blueray, I cant remember any charger points either. I take spare batteries and make sure they are fully charged befor the trek and yes you will love it, we did🙂🙂

Hi Blue ray, I got a Freeloader Pico solar charger which is very small, light, and inexpensive to buy. I use it for my phone, charge from mains or solar. Bit limited in this country for solar cos of weather, but strapped to the outside of your rucksac all day it will charge up.
It's obviously limited but gives you another option. I have a spare charged battery for my camera which I carry with me. Perhaps a bridge camera with a spare battery would be a good option.

Thanks Wiggy. I really can't wait to go now. Can't believe I'll be there in less than 2 weeks🙂

Hi blue ray
There where no charger points on the trek we did in Peru on our camp sites. But you will love it we all did 😀

Just a thought, if you are doing the trek, I think they may have charging points at the camp sites.

Well I just bought a fairly cheap one off Amazon I think, but as it happened I didn't need to use it despite the electricity going off three times a day in the jungle. It can also be charged via computer, but I can't really give an evaluation as yet.

Thanks MadMag, I cant wait! I did have a look at solar chargers, but some of the reviews weren't very good. Could you recommend one?

Maybe you could get a solar charger?
You'll have a great time there.
