Reading the posts above it looks the wild camping weekend is going to a very crazy and mad one.😀😀 Certainly looking forward to meeting new friends.🙂
Has a date been set yet for this?

Ohhhh Minty...just reading this brings images to mind which have no right being there!!! This is something I've wanted to do for years and never got around too. I'm sure this event will be something not to be missed. And as for the peg?? not sure i'd want it 5th or 6th hand....🙂🙂

Yes TMiW, Lima, Arequipa,Colca Canyon,Puno,Uros Islands, Cusco,Sacred Valley,Machu Picchu plus a stay in the Amazon Jungle. I'm exhausted already.

Bustagut, we can always share the load, share tents,( 2man lightweights are managable), one carries tent,one carries tranga,food, waterfilter oh and poopascoop.
And if me and Kathy leave our big knickers at home ,that should lighten the load,😀
Seriously its surprising how little you actually need when you realise you have to carry it.

Bala.Spent a week on a geography field trip there chopping Rhododendrem bushes down and stayed in a OD centre which was like something out of rentaghost!

Sounds an interesting adventure, wouldn't mind joining in depending on dates.

Bothy sounds good to me, especially as I don't have a tent!!🙂

Yes, open air toilets are far superior to the stinky things in town centres, not that I've been in any for many a year.

Fresh air toilets are great,as long as you avoid gorse bushes,nettles, thistles etc. And just think girls,we won't have to worry about the men leaving the seat up,haha

Should there be no room inside,those wishing to camp can share the same toilette facilities (a spade)🙂

Thanks davem, was not sure if it was M.Hut, its a great service, seen one in France, but not in Lakes/U.K. Will have to stay in one, when I can.🙂

Hi steve.A bothy is a mountain hut. its there for anyone to use and they are free.

The one on Arenig Fawr has a fire place and room for about 4 people.

People leave all sorts of stuff there that you can use for free.....but its etiquette that in return you leave things for others to use.

I'll give the thread a few more days then post an invite with possible dates.

I've got a big rucksack Ruth so I can fit you and your tent in mate.

Been wild camping a lot, but never in a Bothy, do you just turn up and do they cost anything?

As a regular Bothy visitor,mainly in Scotland i consider a Bothy option a better alternative to a tent.No extra weight for faster walking,a sleeping platform to spread out,no leaking tent to worry about,a roaring fire to dry maps out,i could go on🙂

Only if someone will supply and carry me tent and maybe me from time to time🙂😋

I love wild camping but I always think of it as a way of enjoying the isolation and peace of getting away from it all! But... this sounds interesting 😀 Will keep an eye out for dates.
