Staffordshire autumn walk

Thanks to Richard for joining me on this walk which, in management talk, surpassed all expectations. We had dry weather, warm wind, beautiful autumn leaves, and interesting historical buildings, all within 10 miles of great countryside. I won't mention the fact that Richard's memories were correct and there was some awful mud in places. Also, all four pubs on the route did not open until much later, so instead of the usual apres-walk pint we had to put up with a cuppa in a tea room for grannies. Still, we were both so pleased with this walk that I had to promise Richard to put another invite on.

@Mitch: it certainly was romantic. It softened Richard's heart so much that he presented me with one of his famous pickled eggs, which he usually reserves to seduce female members

Thanks Mike for such a very good day out, well researched and navigated. That sub-tropical southerly breeze blowing across the the drive of Sharpcliffe Hall was a great end to the day; home and dry! Will we be so lucky on Churnet Valley II?
