Thought I might start a thread so people could suggest some good reading material for the long dark nights which are on the way.
So i think i'll start with.

How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.

There are some lovely quotes in this book and my favourite at the moment is.

“You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.” 😀

I'm with Blue John... And I am going to a Robert MacFarlane talk tomorrow! Am reading The Old Ways at the moment. Waterlog by Roger Deakin is a lovely read.

The Hundred Year Old Man was an amusing book it kind of reads like some of these threads in that one comment can lead to a whole new other story but still finds its way back to connect perfectly with the next.

"Cairngorm John" has a lot of mountain rescue stories [that's his call sign]. "Touching the void" of course, but "The White Spider" if you really want to be terrified of climbing again! "A Computer called Leo" for a story of how Britain led the world and screwed up again.:~
The best quote I have heard is "wind is caused by the trees waving their branches". 😮{Try to disprove that!}
