Zip Wire Adventure
Forever Lost has brought this to my attention. I know there are adreneline junkies out there so what do you think? Could this be a OD outing?
The Big Zipper opens at Zip World at the disused Penryhn Quarry, Bethesda
Riders will be as high as 700ft in the air over a lake
Views on a clear day include Snowdonia, Anglesey and the Isle of Man

Oooh Maggie keep us posted ๐
Whatever is fine with me too!
Why not do this one day then the via Ferrara thing at Honister the next? Maybe both in one weekend would be a bit much? I'm up for either single days or both the same weekend, whatever.
Planning to do this with my friend in between Xmas and New Year, all being well so will let you know how it goes! If I like it I'll do it again with you lot.
Sorry AH the idea of watching Ruth scream as much as me is too much to resist!
I can do it twice - if I'm not off on one of my adventures.
I can do either date ๐
either date for me ๐
I can do either date ๐
alpine hiker: oh bum! Mmmm Is 26th goods for any one else?
26th for me๐
The 26th clashes with the 3 peaks w/e
I want to fly too ๐
19th or 26th April 2014?
A Saturday....๐๐๐
Definitely count me in please TMIW๐๐๐ (hands free, of course๐)
At least 2 pints Deka
I'd like to do this as well please ๐
MM are you sure? ๐๐
Sounds brilliant, count me in! ๐๐
I suppose I can do something tame for a change...
Count me in too please
And me pal.....
It's looking like a Saturday in Spring might be a good date then! ๐
Sarah lucky girl you get diagnosed by colleagues, can they do a group diagnosis or is that automatic ๐ Count me in for the ride too, what a way to go ๐
ME,ME,ME PLEASE, ME,ME,ME YIPEE๐
next year,spring would be good๐๐
Have just been discussing this at work and I have been expertly diagnosed by highly trained NHS staff as "off my f***ing head".
I guess that's a "yes" from me then.
As soon as possible, before I lose my nerve......
๐๐๐๐
Always wanted to do this.Scout is it alright if I miss out the cake and just have the pint?
Who's up for the this then? And when would most people like to do it?
Well if it reaches speeds of upto 100mph i would say it went quickly !! lol
If you get there before us Johnwalking let us know how it went! ๐
Going to keep an eye out to see if it appears on the Tesco club card deals like the high ropes course, Tree Tops at Betws y Coed.
Doing this with the boys in August. I don't have a head for heights, but they love it.
The year is getting quite busy now so I may put this up next year or if I can find a window maybe September/October.
Well I'm well up for this, even if it is ยฃ50 as I've heard mention. I've got a head for heights and am now a proper climber, done over 4 routes on crags already, so bring it on!
Don't know if anyone can open this link but I get National geographic on-line and today's edition refers to the zip wire!

๐๐๐
Lol you could run a book Love called "The Boot Fund"๐
Maybe I'll wait for the second wire then!:~๐๐
I'm an Independent reader myself๐
Well now I've seen the video on the Daily Mail website I don't really need to do this. ๐
Allegedly the bigger you are the faster you zip. They are hoping to put a second wire up so you can race against each other, at the moment you can only race against the local birds of prey if they spot you flying down ๐๐
Anyone interested should check out the Daily Mail today it looks fantastic.
I'll bring vomit bags for the weak hearted, better yet, I can resusitate them if necessary ๐
I think all of the above just sounds great!๐
Oh and I don't like being tipped upside down either ๐
Me too BJ, just come back from the park, was made to go on the roundabout, felt sick and nearly fell off it, the see-saw and swing were much more my thing ๐
๐๐๐ then watch out for these forum Chuck! :~๐
I'm ok on nerves & straight line speed but my brain doesnt like being swirled around :~
We can have a special outing just for those few Hillmale! ๐
If you pack everything all in one invite Scout, it leaves you nothing else to get excited about! :~
How about a total thrill seekers weekend. Start with a day at Alton Towers to warm us up followed by the zipwire and parachute interpersed with lots of cake and a pint at the end for the lads๐
Me too please๐๐
Oooh yes please.... lets ALSO have a midweek Alton Towers adventure - Oblivion here we come ๐
How about zipwire first, cake for lunch [for the benefit of Miss Babs who does have a legitimate point about the cake] parachute jump in the afternoon and pub crawl at night. Have I catered for everyone there?
Some of us did a tandem junp just to freak ourselves out. Let me tell you - it worked for me!!!!!
Some of the girls were thinking a day out at Alton Towers might be just as much fun and more cost effective!
I did a tandem parachute jump for charity one year to the day today and it wasn't an April's fool prank, let me tell you. I jumped from 10,000ft and I am definitely up for this one too! I'm in ๐๐
Count me in๐
I had a go at this during my recent visit to my daughter in Canada. We did this at Whistler mountain. I'm also one of those people who tries not to say no to trying new things and I'm proud of myself that I managed to do all 5 zips. Even though I did chicken out of doing the final one upside down! Everyone else did! But I won't be joining you at Zip World any time soon.
Oh I've missed it,will iPlayer it later
yes i have just seen it also, awesome
I just caught up with it, it doesnt seem as scary as I thought it would be ๐
It was on tonight John about 10 minutes ago. ๐
Which night was it on? Must catch up with it on iplayer?
I'll wait at the bottom and mind the cake ๐๐
Count me in๐
How about going along it upside down Minty? ๐
Oh you can be sure Minty will die big if I have anything to do with it!! ๐๐๐๐
Screaming's a natural reaction but if I'm going head first I can always look down! I hope they supply safety goggles! :~๐๐
You can go 1st then Hillmale, test the line, if you survive I will go next ๐
This looks great..would be up for it. Might take my boys on way back from the lakes at Easter.
๐๐ Scout I hope I'm now to old for that error!๐ฎ๐ฎ but I'm sure you wouldn't be without them now.
That a girl MD ๐
If I have to check baggage allowance BJ I might as well give up now!๐ฎ๐
I could well be up for this but flying so low I'll have to check my baggage allowance ๐ฎ๐ฎ
What the hell, Scary, but think I may be talking myself into. Oh noooooo ๐
Hmmmm. Not saying "no" has got me in trouble before now (and four children) ๐
MD finding myself single after such a long time when I joined this site my mantra was to try not to say No (which is always my first reaction!) :~. It has made me some lovely friends and given me some memories I would never have experienced. Yes it's been scary and some I will never repeat (in a million years!! ๐๐) but all have made me thankful to be me! I'm not even sure I could do this but I'll certainly think it over! ๐
TMW, I know you are right and advice I received from my 8 year old granddaughter a few weeks ago when out playing 'come on Grandma just conquer your fears' Will be my new motto from now on, who knows may join you ๐
MD life is for living outside your comfort zone! ๐ Just think of the stories you could tell afterwards!
Surely you're not a wuss BJ? I thought you Guys would be well up for this? :~๐
I've had a little practice on a zip wire last week at the local park, my two little Granddaughters made me have a turn, he-he, was great fun, but not sure about being horizontal on one going 80 miles per hour โน
I'm in !!!!!
I think I was just called a heffalump by Minty. I shall sulk๐
Wow this sounds AMAZING - no choice but to look down ha!!!! ๐ โThe zip line will be spectacular,โ he said. โRiders will be in a horizontal position on a hang gliding harness, travelling around 80mph โ the last quarter of a mile is uphill: thatโs how long it will take to slow down. Itโs also an amazing location โ on a clear day you can see the Isle of Man and the whole of Anglesey.โ ๐
The longer and higher the better formeeeeee!
Count me in ๐
Golly - I'll be coming at a heck of a rate - are you sure he won't drop me, or even worse, just miss๐
Minty will catch you.......๐๐
I would love to do this. What could be more exciting that hurtling at breakneck speed through the air above a massive drop.
How do you stop at the other end?
I only mentioned it to TMiW as it was on my facebook page and i know shes awannabe action girl ๐and these kind of activities are always best done in a group to support one another to get over any last mimute nerves and YES i can see some on here having a go but alass it won't be ME ๐sorry
You get to practice on the Little Zipper first ๐
100mph.!!! erm.. I don't think so, not for me ๐
Ok when are we doing this then count me in. Did one in nz a few years back its great fun๐๐๐:~
there's a video on the BBC website........it's a long way down!!!
The guy who was trying to get the Honister one through planning was killed in a helicopter crash, that would have been on the same site as the Via Ferrata up Fleetwith Pike โน
You go first & we will follow ๐
