Are you free Mrs Slocum?
There is some confusion over the various "Marital Status" options, and I think its time to do a clean-up. Yep, I read that thread about the topic, and have ummmmed and aaaaahed for a few days.:~
There are currently 4 versions of "single", which is a bit much๐ฎ, and only one "attached" option. I am thinking of merging them all down to two:
"Single / Divorced / Free Agent" and
"In Relationship / Attached / Married"
What do you think?

Bimble....here it is ๐
Sarah68 (Sarah): are you sure it would come with one๐๐๐๐
preggy47(Andy): The problem with a female order Andy is that the instruction manual would weigh more than the package ๐๐๐๐
I once saw a birthday card which I sent to the wife of a friend of mine, which suggested pyramid male order. A woman passes her partner on to two other women, in return she gets four men from other members. It said "do not break the chain, if you do, will get your original partner back"!๐
๐ ๐ ๐
Nice idea
Oops thinking of the wrong sort of female order,
Sorry will let you have a real one ๐
or just in case something that goes wrong๐๐
๐ ๐ ๐
In case of a puncture
This should work both ways female order.
what about coming with a repair kit.๐๐
or an exchange ๐ ๐
with a money back guarantee๐๐
๐ ๐ ๐,
28 day return policy if not satisfied ๐
or by airmale๐๐
Sarah68 (Sarah): have a great night.
would it be great if all relationships came with a returns sticker.๐๐
Lucky you Sarah, have fun ๐
And can we return it free of charge if we are not satisfied? ๐
Off to see Bill Bailey now, v excited ๐๐๐๐
๐ ๐ ๐, in a male van
will the maleman bring it.๐๐
๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
๐๐๐๐morningdawn: how do they arrive in the male(mail)๐๐
preggy47(Andy): There is an option for us to browse profiles... male order catalogue ???
๐ ๐ ๐
suesingularity: looking around sounds like a shopping trip๐๐๐
that should say certain I have a definite vacancy๐๐๐
im certainly have a definite vacancy๐๐
Quite possible to be both then !๐
I'd love to see the proportion of "engaged" members to "vacant" members, I suspect a lot of us are fairly vacant ๐
I think these comments just prove that "age" means nothing as we're all acting like 12 again! ๐๐๐
Love it! ๐๐
๐๐๐
or we could do like on toilet doors engaged or vacant??๐๐
unhinged for me then! ๐
๐
Oh I really fancy you kiss kiss slob slob, what's that smell? oh don't worry about that, it's just my ex bricked up behind the kitchen wall. ๐
What a palaver - how funny!
My question is, does the detail really matter? Surely those looking for a relationship just need to know whether the person they like is available or not?
I personally wouldn't care too much why someone is "available". We're all of an age where we have history and the detail as to why can be filled in at a later date, when getting getting to know each other.
Site Admin: I think your last list is the one to go with.
Detached, semi detached and unattached sounds like a housing estate๐๐
There/Not all there
Gay/sad
Happily unmarried/unhappily single
going round the twist
project manager required
apply within
at your own peril ๐๐
What about :
With or without
Unhappily married or happily single
Hinged or unhinged ๐ ๐ ๐
My wife doesn't understand me, I want my just desserts!
I wouldnt have minded being able to select the option 'on my bloody own again' ๐ ๐
Wow, this is getting complicated.๐
MadMag: I see your problem. Maybe I need "Single / Divorced / Separated / Widowed / New Patio" ๐
colinjoseph: for those who enter "single" when they aren't I am working on a lie detector. It sends 2000 volts through their keyboard. I think the "dating communication welcome/not" is handled by the dating/friendship question.
catwalker: I agree with the finding out more in conversation comment. Its too easy to judge from a selfie photo and some hastily written text. On a site like this people are 2 dimensional. The three dimensional version is much more interesting.
Quite correct MM,but what of those who wish to play the field, could it be semi detached๐
You don't want to do that Love you'll make a right mess of the sheets lol๐
Ah TMIW, but I am older than you, that's the point.
Well thanks for that colinjoseph - single and a failure! I should sleep well tonight if I haven't already slit my wrists! :~โน
OK. Too many comments to respond to all, but I think the overall feeling seems to be "the simpler the better" with a couple of exceptions.
At some point in the not too distant I'll go with:
"Single / Widowed / Divorced / Separated"
"In Relationship / Attached / Married"
Jacktherussell is right. Time to just do it!
I go with Cat on this one- attached or unattached is plenty of information to be going on with. There are then no preconceptions or stigmas, just the knowledge that you're not treading on anyones toes and about to get a visit from an axe wielding ex...... or not ex!!!!!!
sorry MM, I was accidentally omitting it from my text at the same time you were typing!๐
Now, the information I really want to know before contacting someone, if we were concise, is: Dating communication Welcome/Not welcome.
However, I am sure that the women would say that depends who it is from!
so, to summarise my opinion. Simplified: just dating contact welcome or not. Perhaps with the *option* to add a description if they wish {single, married, divorced, separated etc}
Hope this helps.๐
And don't forget us widowed folk, it's not our fault we've been left alone. ( unless someone has secretly murdered their other half )
First, it's nice to be asked for our opinion SA.
Secondly, there is a difference between Divorced and Single; some people even say "I am Single again"! well, sorry. You can't be single again, only Divorced, which gives more information on a person's background. For me being Single at my age is far worse than Divorced because it marks me as a failure. Do we want that [useful] information on site? I would certainly like to know before contacting someone. Separated is even more useful because it warns me that someone else may still be arround.
I have found women [I don't chat up men!] on this site who enter single/unattached, but then turn out to have a partner. Wish I had known. continued
Jacktherussell : I had hoped that Site Admin could have managed to put all our confusion to rest but it's interesting to read other peoples views on the matter even if it doesn't answer the question.:~ Apparently "it's good to talk"! ๐๐
Just: ๐๐๐ I think we should use that one Just!
Is it only me with de ja vu? This discussion has gone on far to long! Unfortuanately I fear it will never be resolved. To cause more confusion I'll throw my hat(but want it back)into the ring. Dating only. Dating and friendships. Friendships only. If anyone is found to be using the site for cheating purposes whilst attached I suggest a public flogging followed by tar and feathers.
๐๐
unattached is better than detached CW! ๐๐๐
Everything we really like is bad for us FL apart from this walking lark. The amount of laughter it creates keeps stomach muscles toned and endorphins raised. Long may it continue! ๐๐
You do know its bad for you CW
Nice and clear cat...I like it......what are you now...lol
I always knew life was complicated! :~๐
Just to avoid confusion - I am suggesting just TWO catchall groups, not six split into 3 single and 3 attached versions.
Thus, do you want the ability to narrowly define yourself or is a catchall OK.
Also: Don't forget that this will simplify searching as you just select one or the other ...
Yep, agree with preggy47, I don't think having a few versions of singleness is a problem as long as we all understand what they mean, it's the fact that "free agent" is so open to different interpretations that isn't so good. But TMIW also made me think about "widowed", haven't given it much thought before, but I think if I was in that situation then I wouldn't want to describe myself as just "single". So I reckon, ditch "free agent" and add "widowed".
Does this make Site Admin Captain Peacock? ๐
I agree with preggy(47). I also feel if you were to use this as a dating site, whether someone is separated or divorced is quite different.
I too agree with preggy47. Just don't like the term "free agent" as it's too vague.
ditch free agent and replace with separated me thinks.๐
But what does "free agent" mean Site Admin??? In that group wouldn't Single/Divorced/Widowed be more suitable?
