Navigation Course
RourkyAfter frequent pestering I have again been cornered this weekend at the Xmas bash to run another two day navigation course in the Brecon Beacons. Last time out was in June when the weathers better for standing around and trying to find out where the hell we are, so its a way off yet. Ten people attended the last weekend, a manageable number, I would need to cap this second weekend at around 15 however.
Day 1 will be using basic map features and relating them to the landscape around Talgarth, while day 2 takes us up Fan Fawr for a far more exposed mountain day with compass work and no paths.
I aim to base the group at the Llwyn-y-celyn YHA south of Brecon on the A470. All im seeking a

If anyones on a walk that I maybe on and wants some advice on map reading and how to use a compass don't be afraid to ask I class myself very experience on this subject. Not trying to steal your trade Rourky, just here to help 🙂🙂

Thankyou all for your interest to date, looks like im going to need a serious think about how this weekend course will work.
I may even set up as a business at this rate, as id be quids in at around £80 per day per person and thats cheap.
I'll have a ponder on my travels over the xmas period, its all a way off yet so no need to panic.

This post inspired me to get my compass out to check my skills. Discovered that the polarity has somehow reversed since I last used it on Red Pike a few weeks ago. Ah well, better to find out now than when I really need to use it. Guess what is going on my letter to Santa.🙂
