Ha ha Claudette look again, you missed someone!!
Like everyone I am saddened by what has been happening in Cumbria. Yesterday was the UN's International Mountain Day in support of mountain communities around the world, which all have rheir own struggles. We see the beauty of these landscapes but sometimes we forget how tough the environment can be for those who live and work there. I can't get up to Cumbria and provide practical help but I will be visiting and spending money as soon as I can, as well as donating to one of the funds that gave been set up. Stay safe everyone in the Lakes x

Working with a lot of guys from Cumbria & North Lancashire so getting daily updates of the problems that people are having up there. Hope you are all OK and any damage suffered is not to severe.

Hello All. Is good to read all your caring comments.
Been a rough week, no let up in this weather, some flooded for the second time in a week now. Many animals lost and people's homes ruined. Lots of people pulling together tho, putting people up, donating cleaning stuff, food, clothes and furniture. Been good to see community spirit even if it has been marred by the minority of opportunists. The emergency services, council's volunteers and army all working together has been good to see, putting in place lessons learnt from 2005 and 2009. Not forgetting those in Yorkshire and Dumfries and Lancs who have been hit too.

Oh thinking of you all in the Lakes,.,we got away with it very lightly here in north Wales some places got cut off and bad flooding in Beaumaris and low lying land, Like you thought I would be swept away and that was only at a tescos roundabout which got flooded 4 points meeting coming off the hills, it came up to the door which was scary as I halve a tiny car but had to go forward as the level was increasing. So sending best wishes and yes thank god everyone is safe. 🙂

Been thinking of you folk up in the Lakes. Seems a different world watching it all on TV, can't begin to imagine what it must be like having to live through it.
See you all in August if not before.

Thank you for your message.It certainly is a dreadfull time here.It was difficult to say upright today,wind and rain hammering on the windows of this riverside Cottage in Little Langdale,which has suffered little impact here except more boggier than i have seen before🙂

I have seen this and it is mind blowing,but nothing compared to what Glenridding & the Lythe vally are experienceing.Little Langdale have had no real impact,just more boggy than previous years.It seems light years away that i walked across Grizedale Tarn,no i am not equipted to waqlk on water🙂

Left Staffordshire Saturday morning,arrived in Little Langdale Today Monday Dec 7.Many homes at Troutbeck Bridge were inundated with not ony water,but rubble from alandslip.It is truely heart breaking to see such a scale of damage

Hello Tinks. Thank you for your kind thoughts. It's not too bad where I live but I've only just managed to get back having been over in Yorkshire for a few days. The A590 in the Lyth valley was like a causeway across an inland sea. Some places will not be the same after this.

Glad to hear that you will not have suffered damage personally, but saddened to see so much destruction, especially the lovely old bridge at Pooley Bridge. I can't find the link mentioned above re the Giving Page -can you send it to me please?

Just been watching the news updates too. Hoping all our OD friends are safe. Awful for everyone affected. Thanks for the just giving page Suzanne, its also the basics people will need over the next few days.
Luckliy not flooded but my parents, sister and her family are without any power, electric, heating, at the moment, they are in the Lancaster area at Heysham. Most of the main roads around there are flooded but we managed to meet up in Preston, took them up camping stoves, batteries, candles, torches, food supplies etc.

As well as the Dunmail Raise road, the bridge at Pooley Bridge has collapsed. I have just shared the just giving link on my facebook page. I hope you are all safe up there. Thinking of friends & all the lovely people of Cumbria

This is truly a disaster for Cumbria. Aside of the damage to home and business property (including farms) , the infrastructure has been hit badly. Roads such as the Dunmail Raise (which connects North and South Lakes) and bridges will need major re-build. It's going to take some time and lots of money.
I've been over in Co Durham for the weekend and will be staying here until tomorrow because the roads to Kendal are blocked however I'll have been spared flood damage because my place is on a steep hill.
I know Christine, Mountain Man and Lakes Adventurer are OK and my fingers are crossed for all other Cumbria based OD folk too. x
