New Year
I was thinking off getting away over the new year, and was wondering if any other folks would be interested in getting together for a few days. I was thinking of the lakes as there are a few YH open with beds still available, but i'am open to other ideas.

May join you for a walk if weather is ok
Bigfoot: Yes,hope you you can make it.
I wouldn%u2019t mind joining in on any of the walks and possibly a night or two, will confirm in a couple of weeks
I have just booked in for 3 nights at Denton house, and will post this as an invite.
Ruby Walls: I don't 🙂
just trying to decide which companys ration packs to use - I love cold boil in the bag wayfarer ones but the Evaq8 24hr ones are sublime --- I'm ex-army so ration packs are the norm for me
I'm up for a few days away at New Year, are we looking at Denton House the outdoor centre / hostel in Keswick.
I%u2019d love to do something over New Year too😀
Borrowdale sounds sorted - proper in the sticks 🙂
Helvellyn40: I've got a Coleman 3 season tent (not been used for a long time but it's all there and as I recall it was toasting in it 🙂 ) that you can have the use of if you want to 🙂
Stephen: thank you for that - love the idea of being able to use the facilities even though I might have dig my way out of my tent as per last year when I literally got snowed in on the tops 🙂 it's all good fun 🙂
as for freezing to death - get a Mountain Equipment Zero series or Starlight series sleeping bag and you won't be zipping yourself in to it 🙂
It's a possibility for me too 🙂
Stephen: Slight snag for me camping,as i don't own a tent.
The hostel that Bea has booked into for a week is ?19.00 per night, much cheaper than YH,and still has a good number of beds available, i was thinking of booking 3 nights myself.
H40: myself and Kev might be interested in heading to the lakes for new year. We don%u2019t mind camping or hosteling. I%u2019ll have a chat and let you know. MH x
I am interested but not under canvas brrrrr
Just an idea - you can camp quite cheaply at a small number of youth hostels. For example, Borrowdale YHA has camping at ?15 pppn (?12 pppn for YHA members) throughout December and January. (When you camp, you can use the full range of hostel facilities kitchen, showers, drying room etc.) This is good value, as beds in dorms will cost about ?30 pppn at this time of year, even if they've still got availability.
me and my doggy are up for it - I love wild camping though so for me it'd be tent time 🙂 either on the hills or if I really have one of the excellent campsites with facilities 🙂 it'd also let me try out my new MSR tent as well 🙂
Pebbles(Bea): That's a possibility,and cheaper than YH, any other's interested in this?
