where are all the paddlers?

after Charlie44's thread on climbers meeting up at a climbing wall, and Bentravla's thread on dwindling invitiations, I thought I try to call the paddlers.

So, are there any kayakers/canoeists out there? And would you be interested to paddle together occasionally? If so, where are you, and what do you want to paddle?

I myself am a touring paddler at heart, both on rivers and the sea, and do WW mainly to increase my choice of rivers. I live near Trent Lock in the East Midlands and are spoiled for choices regarding rivers and canals, but have a long way to any coast. I am a member of the Canoe-Camping Club which, similar to OD, offer trips nationwide, organised by local volunteers, so I

Hi Mike et al.
I%u2019ve a few SOT kayaks at a beach in north lincs at the mouth of the river Humber, and access to more in Scotland that I%u2019ll be getting out soon.
Had a couple of paddles at sea this year, my favourite spot around Haille Sand Fort.

Hi Everyone. I am a kayaker based in Derbyshire. I travel with my club for touring trips such as the Dee and local canals. Also have done the Windermere solstice event each year as well as the Conwy Ascent in my sea Kayak. Love touring lakes and canals. I also mess about in my slalom boat at Matlock . Good to know there are some other paddlers around.

For those who are interested...We kayaked at Ullswater last week in a force 3 ? gale...felt like the sea! Let me know if any of you are coming up Cumbria way in the near future and we can meet up. Ruth, we'll definitely make it to Derwent water one weekend soon...

Hi Ian, I've got an inflatable that I don't really use and which you are welcome to try. It's a WW type with rigid floor. If you are interested give me a shout, and I got it down from the loft and pump it up to see whether it's still ok

thanks to all your replies so far. I have posted in invite for the Dove Tour in March, hope that some of you may be able to join me, would be good to meet up.
Cathy (and David): would be great if you would post an invite. I plan to do the classic Loch Shiel Round but extended north to Loch Hourn after Easter.
Cooperatron: I do love multi-day trips, did all of the 4 big scottish rivers from source to sea already, Wye and Severn in sections only. Down south I only did the Thames Tideway, Arun, Adur, and the area around Poole Harbour

We are keen sea kayakers...Often in Scotland or Anglesey in the summer months. It's been too windy for us in October and November. But we might have a go at paddling up/ down the River Lune estuary one fine winter's day. I'll post something up in the Spring...

I used to be a kayaker but too much work this year so I haven't even managed evening paddles on the Conwy. North Wales has some excellent paddling.

I dabble with a sea kayak, a river kayak and a canoe - not often enough though - in fact only a couple of times this year. I prefer to sea kayak but living a a few miles N of Derby it's not that convenient!

Shhhh don't tell people about Rushbanks Farm. It's a lovely campsite and I don't want it getting too well known 🙂. Sadly I don't have a kayak, despite living next to a river.

Bentravla, the river Stour is very scenic, paddled it once from Sudbury when staying at Rushbanks Farm. Got the guidebook for the Broads but didn't manage so far to paddle there
