What has OutdoorDuo done for me?

  Add a 'What has ...'

Thank you Outdoor Duo for connecting us back in 2015 ... 3 years on we're now a happily married couple! V&M x

I have met somebody to share with.

This has been a great group for friendships and great outdoor experiences as well as for dating. I now have a life partner, and have recommended OD to others who've joined. My heartfelt thanks to you! xx

I'm new to OD and keen to do a few winter walks in the Lakes so your invitation is perfect. I won't be able to confirm definitely until early next week, but I hope to be able to come along.

Taz Good evening, not sure if I can make this one yet!

Still looking for a second hand car to get my "wings" back. My Ford Fiesta is still driveable ,but only for short level road journey

I am very sorry, its not possible to join you all
Have a great day

Saturday is looking pretty good the weather is more than likely a mix of sleet and snow backed up a gentle south / south east breeze - i have also been reliably informed that there is some snow on the ground too

May try and get to this one... is it the Rydal Road car park where you are meeting?

taz  on 09/01/18 @ 9:26 said:

it's the car park just along from the mill next to the roundabout on the way out of Ambleside going towards Grasmere - sorry that i can't be more specific than this as i don't know the road names

jo_jo   on 10/01/18 @ 18:36 said:

Thanks but decided this walk may be too far for me after all

Would have joined you for this Taz, but away this weekend

taz  on 12/01/18 @ 11:11 said:

i was reluctant to put this invitation up cos last time i did so people just backed away from it and looks like the same is going to happen again so am thinking that it was wrong of me to put the invite up in first instance - sorry for troubling this section of the website

weather is looking reasonable so the walk is definitely on and myself and Jake (my red / white border collie) will be there to greet you and have a fun adventure if you decide to come with us

jo_jo   on 12/01/18 @ 15:12 said:

Please don't give up posting walks! I felt it was too long with the amount of climbing to fit into the 6hrs and was worried I would not be able to keep up with the pace.

Snowdoniawhite   on 12/01/18 @ 16:27 said:

Sounds like a very nice walk. If I lived closer, I would have liked to join you.

Happy Hiker10   on 13/01/18 @ 18:35 said:

Thanks for leading a brilliant walk Taz and Jake. You summed it up well at the end - an 'epic adventure' arctic conditions but our kit works. thank you and see you on another walk. Happyhiker10

Bea ( Pebbles)   on 13/01/18 @ 22:01 said:

Taz Glad you had a good day out on the fells despite artic condition.
Please dont think your great invites are not appriciated... They are!!
Its can be a bit difficult as a " newbie" to get the " trust" you most prob deserve.....
Thats why I tell new members...who frequently contact join a few walks...first...before they put their own invitation on.
I am sorry you didnt made it to the lake district over the festive was a great ...

Hope to see you soon on one of our invite...
Well done for after the troops..and get them home sound and safe.
Take care
Best wishes
Bea and Tilly

Happy Hiker10: it ended up as probably the best EPIC ADVENTURE i've ever had on that set of hills

thank you for making the adventure proper special for both me and Jake and thank you for taking the time to come and join in with us - your contribution was both noted and very much respected I was a bit concerned that this walk might have been a tad beyond you but hell no you stuck to my coat tails like glue - massive brownie points for being able to do that

taz  on 15/01/18 @ 9:42 said:

Pebbles(Bea): wherever i go and whatever i do and whoever i'm with WE ALWAYS COME BACK IN THE SAME CONDITION WE STARTED OUT - i don't take undue and unnecessary risks (ask HappyHiker10) i build in escape routes to make sure that if the worst happens i've got somewhere safe to take all those that are with me

no worries on the walk posting front a lot of the people i walk / climb with work in gear shops in Ambleside which is partly why i love those hills so much

Bea ( Pebbles)   on 15/01/18 @ 17:42 said:

Taz Great stuff. It sounds like you are a very responsible person.... a well prepared one
I never lead a walk myself, but my ex partner did - so I know how much work it goes into it. Thank you for not "giving up" putting them invites up...And I hope you have a lovely time with our OD peeps...and more in the future.
Thank you for the reply
Bea and Tilly
