What has OutdoorDuo done for me?

I have met a very special lady through this site. Thank-you for your help
Barry M

It was a great experience to join OD back in April 2016 and meet some very nice like-minded people; I enjoyed some amazing walks that I would otherwise never discovered.
Happysoul77

I met M on the site about 2 years ago and we are now about to move in together. I keep recommending people to OD as it's been fantastic and I've loved being part of the 'family'.Thank you for everything.Vee

I have found someone and we are getting along very well. I am pleased I heard about your Site from a friend as I consider it to be a good genuine site for finding someone compatible. Many thanks

Suggest we meet a bit earlier at the lay-by before the visitors centre and then arrange car shares to go the rest of the way. No sense in us all driving up there and parking is limited anyway.

Walking On   on 30/09/17 @ 20:59 said:

I did that when I led a shorter version of this a few weeks back, but there was plenty of space up at Kings Tree on that day. Feel free to do so if you wish - last layby before Fairholmes at 9.30 ? Anyone late can drive straight up.

Ok bracing myself for my first Wednesday wander. Booked in at Hathersage hostel Tuesday night and will come over to do my own Tuesday wander or just a crawl around the pubs.

Lazlo Woodbine   on 04/10/17 @ 7:00 said:

Was thinking of putting on a walk from here myself. You can only drive up here midweek so it gives access to lesser trod routes. Maz, Hathersage YHA is awful but there are a couple of pubs nearby.

Shame I can't join you but I'm working that day Dave

We'll miss you Lynne, hope you can make the next one.
Anyone staying on Weds night, I'm leading a shorter walk on Thursday for another group, on Kinder north. Text me if you are interested.

Been meaning to do a Weds wander for a while when visiting my mum in Sheffield!

Sorry Dave but ‘grandparent services’ just been requested.....half term? Hope to see you soon x

Maz, a word of advice. The breakfast at the YHA is appalling but you can have as much as you can eat breakfast at the Morelands for ?4.49. At Owler bar, 10 minutes drive from Hathersage.

Janhk   on 19/10/17 @ 16:41 said:

Dave, I have just seen a report from the Sheffield Star saying the A57 is closed for resurfacing between Glossop and Bamford junction A6013 during next week! Will we still be able to get up to the reservoirs? Also might affect people travelling?

Lazlo Woodbine   on 19/10/17 @ 17:42 said:

Jan, the road should be open for access only as people (not many I grant you) live up the Fairholmes road. Good to check on the day before though.

Walking On   on 20/10/17 @ 8:48 said:

Hi Jan, Sorry, just got back from a week on Kalymnos. Yes, the Snake will be closed but as Doug says we should still be able to access the Fairholmes road from the Bamford end. This does mean that anyone travelling from the west (PeteK, Maz, anyone else?) will have to avoid the Snake, e.g. travel via Chapel-en-Le-Frith, Castleton and Bamford to get to the east side.

Carpe Diem!   on 22/10/17 @ 21:22 said:

Hope it goes well Dave. Family stuff taking priority that day . Hope to see you soon! J

Walking On   on 24/10/17 @ 14:15 said:

OK, I've driven up today to check. No problem at Ladybower viaduct, just drive past the half-block at the traffic lights, across the viaduct and turn right up toward Fairholmes.
More of a nuisance is the commencement of timber extraction on what would have been our walking route back down, so I'll have to modify the walk. Please also be careful driving up the minor road because you might meet a large timber lorry travelling in the opposite direction, making a long reverse necessary.

PeteK   on 24/10/17 @ 16:47 said:

Are we still intending to meet up at the lay-by before Fairholme at 09.30? Will have to take the long way round as coming from Manchester so hope I don't get held up.

Walking On   on 24/10/17 @ 17:49 said:

Pete - Yes, should gather most folk there by 9.30, anyone late can drive right up. I'm still full of cold though, so will drive solo.

Sorry I can't make tomorrow Dave: I'm still feeling bleurgh. Have a good day
