Right Northern Soul booked a double Canadian with totally silent engine. Come in number 7 your time is up. Last time I paddled one of these was at Blackpool boating pool in the 1960s.

Lakes Anna: hi Anna ...thats really kind of you but I've spoken to them loads and I don't think there's any chance of them doing that. They seem very strict about their "system" crazy though that is. Also they'd want cash! But you could try if you want ...

Sue + Dawgz   on 16/06/17 @ 19:01 said:

Hi Folks, booking system up and running. I've booked an open Canadian for 2 people, happy to share if anyone happy to be in with me and 2 dogs, though they may stay on shore yet.

Maz   on 16/06/17 @ 21:46 said:

Sue I would love to share a Canadian with you. Sorry Rosie I prefer that to the kayak.

Carpe Diem!   on 16/06/17 @ 23:00 said:

Thanks Rosie and Sue .. so system up and running for folks without boats! Jonathan

Shorty   on 17/06/17 @ 5:23 said:

"Shorty" hopes to make this trip, but I have not sorted accommodation yet. If anyone knows of a spare bed or even a patch on the floor for an air bed, please advise. Cost is not an issue. I am bringing a spare tandem kayak (SOT) for anyone that needs it, with buoyancy aids. (No spare paddles though, have to use your hands!!) (I jest!)

Carpe Diem!   on 17/06/17 @ 18:20 said:

Shorty: thanks Rob... that's a great and very generous offer! Any takers?!

Rosie. B   on 18/06/17 @ 12:17 said:

I'd love to share a tandem kayak if ud like to! x

Shorty   on 18/06/17 @ 13:58 said:

That's great Rosie! Whilst I am more than happy to do that, it's just a case of deciding whether to bring just the tandem, which is fine, or a single as well. (I have a couple I could bring along, but I can only fit 2 onto the car) They are all very stable SOT kayaks but I am very aware, from my informal teachings, just how nervous novices can be. So I always accompany them in the tandem first, before allowing them to venture out in a single. But having two kayaks enables more folk to try them out, of course.
So if there are any more takers, I'd be glad to bring the extra kayak along!

Shorty   on 18/06/17 @ 14:11 said:

Rosie. B you may want to bring a wet suit along, as in a SOT one can get splashed a bit, as well as a wet rump! I can probably bring a rash suit shorts along, just in case anyone needs them. As I plan to stay until Friday, before heading to Whitby for the folk festival, there will hopefully be plenty of time to play on the water between walks and socialising events.

Sue + Dawgz   on 19/06/17 @ 11:40 said:

Hi Maz, that's great see you there.

Rosie. B   on 19/06/17 @ 16:35 said:

The tandem sounds good as I am a nervous novice! Haven't got a wetsuit so will wear my overtrousers and waterproof! x

Carpe Diem!   on 19/06/17 @ 18:45 said:

Rosie. B: Sue dog and pup: Shorty: Maz: thanks for keeping me up to speed with all your arrangements. It's going to be a great morning! Jonathan

Carpe Diem!   on 19/06/17 @ 18:47 said:

If you're down for this event and haven't booked your boat yet, they are disappearing fast! Please let me know when you're sorted out! Many thanks J

Shorty   on 22/06/17 @ 20:56 said:

Rosie. B I will bring along a couple of spare wetsuits you can try before hand. That way at least you won't worry about falling in so much. Not that that is likely of course!!
Still hoping to hear of others wishing to have a go too, so I can justify bringing a single as well. Rob.

Rosie. B   on 23/06/17 @ 12:14 said:

Thank you, that is very kind of you. I'm looking forward to it. x

Shorty   on 30/06/17 @ 20:58 said:

Carpe Diem! My status is now definite, and I shall be bringing my tandem and a single SOT or two on Monday 14th until 18th, based in Ambleside, so if anyone else (in addition to Rosie. B) wants to have a go FOC they can. I am also planning to bring a portable BBQ, and if there's a spare evening and a waterfront venue I could set it up in, it might make for an interesting mozzie-fest one evening perhaps?

Carpe Diem!   on 07/08/17 @ 12:48 said:

stvnhart: Elliewalker: Evans91809: please could you update your "maybe" status on this invitation to "definitely" or "can't come". Many thanks! Jonathan
