Hi apologies for the ignorance but who was Ragnar?? What day does it end and is it really good? What's the best bunkhouse or YHA and does everyone stay at the same place generally? Also will Captain Jack Sparrow be there?? Cheers

Hi Chris
We will be in the Lakes for our annual visit from Sat 12th for a week so hope to catch up with some of you guys. Guessing there will be a few walks posted to coincide with your Viking adventure.

Carpe Diem!   on 12/01/17 @ 22:43 said:

M3: awww lass, thah needs to study Viking folklore and poetry or thah stay on board could be ugly an' short-lived. They're a vile, uncouth bunch o' reprobates on this trip an' you never turn yuh back or you won't have a back. Captain Jack Sparrow? His ship was like a Sunday School picnic compared to what's a-comin' to Ambleside...quite a few of us try and book into the hostel there btw...(but don't mention the Vikings...I almost did and think I got away with it) And we never pay a penny...

Lazlo Woodbine   on 13/01/17 @ 15:30 said:

What is the nearest YHA?

Bionic Man   on 13/01/17 @ 15:45 said:

Hello LW, details of the YHA are on the invite. Ambleside YHA is the length of a longboat from the lake

M3   on 13/01/17 @ 18:54 said:

Carpe Diem: I may indeed need to study Viking folklore and poetry? to avoid an unfortunate encounter with the aforementioned rebrobates. Yes I'll do that, consider my options, me and Jack go back a long way and sleep on it. The Ambleside youth hostel looks very nice. Many thanks.

Carpe Diem!   on 13/01/17 @ 23:17 said:

M3: ...it is a good hostel with great staff. Some of us go for the whole week, others just the weekend, while others drop in and out. If you're staying a few nights, the hostel does have some single rooms but you have to book early!

Lazlo Woodbine   on 14/01/17 @ 20:19 said:

Is rape and pillage included? I haven't pillaged Waitrose in years.

Lazlo Woodbine   on 14/01/17 @ 20:26 said:

Seriously, any people out there want to book a room. There are rooms for 2,4 and 6 people. Some of the 4 and 6 bed rooms have en suite. I prefer that to sharing a dormitory. Last time I shared a dormitory someone pinched my bed. It also works out slightly cheaper.

Tracy (no 'e'!)   on 17/01/17 @ 18:16 said:

Rachael 234: Tinks: Been doing some research on places to stay, it looks like the Backpackers isn't taking bookings yet, the YHA has plenty of space and the cheapest option is a 3 bed room, but only by ?3... so Tinks and Rachel if you want to come in that it's fine by me. Holiday cottages are cheaper again, but most are geared towards families and have double beds, which does not fit us singletons. I'm now staying all week as my girlies have gone off Greenman, so I'd be booking Friday 11th to Saturday 19th, though I'm happy to go to an ordinary bed if that time was too long.

Rachael 234   on 17/01/17 @ 22:06 said:

Peppasmum. Those dates suit me. I've booked already but I can cancel if we were wanting to book a 3 bed room instead? How much would it be ? I'm paying ?30 per night at the mo.

Stepped out of their ships, then marched forth

My mate Minty is wondering if anyone else is booked at Lowray Campsite

minty    on 09/07/17 @ 19:44 said:

hi who else is camping at Low Wray Campsite..out of interest.there's no mention of anybody else camping there apart from me.where the campsite is I am out on a limb.if no one else is camping there I might have to revalidate me going.unfortunately.or do my own thing at campsite not being rude

minty    on 09/07/17 @ 19:56 said:

I have paid upfront for this campsite.thinking that will be other people staying there.look at all the comments no one has mentioned about staying there..the reason for this is because I'm driving down in my camper van.anyway it would be nice for some sort of response thank you

Jill18   on 09/07/17 @ 21:04 said:

Phil usually camps at that site..im sure....and others have in the past....xx

landranger68   on 09/07/17 @ 22:46 said:

Hey Minty, just chill out and bring a camper full of Cider,me thinks you will not be alone for long.

Bionic Man   on 10/07/17 @ 10:00 said:

Hello Minty, I'm not aware of anybody else camping at Low Wray. Maybe we can find somewhere nearer to the YHA. Sorry to be slow to respond.
Back in touch later

Bionic Man: no worries going anyway.hopefully catch you there if not have a great time

Bionic Man   on 10/07/17 @ 12:39 said:

Good news Minty you have the option of camping at Ambleside FC during the summer. They have a face book page and it will be cheaper than Wray Castle NT site and more central

minty    on 10/07/17 @ 13:20 said:

Bionic Man:thank you very much but unfortunately I've already paid upfront months ago.thank you very much for the idea.

minty    on 11/07/17 @ 11:09 said:

hi with great and sadness I've had to cancel this weekend.looking where I'll be staying on campsite and all the activities it would cost me a lot of money trying to get across to Ambleside.really guttedI know everyone will have a lovely time in the lakes it's just a pity I wasn'tgiving more information early on about who was staying on the campsite anyway take care everyone and have a lovely time

Bionic Man   on 11/07/17 @ 13:15 said:

Very sorry to hear you can't make it Minty but if you get a refund from the NT campsite and stay at Ambleside FC it is a lot more central and cheaper. I'm afraid you were the only one camping which is a surprise. Hope you have rethink. Skipper
