After more operations that id like to mention my advice to your good self would be this:-
1. Take your time, especially down hill and be sure of your foot placement to reduce twisting.
2. Use poles as mentioned above.....they reduce shock running through ankles, knees, and hips also aid stability on tricky sections and aid confidence.
Never used brace for walking as more confidence than actual support....however if good for you then use them.
Hope of use🤔
Hi Love life, before and after having full knee replacements I used/use my poles and Boots' Neo G Open Knee Supports - Universal Size. If on a long walk I will also take prescribed painkillers.
I also use ibuprofen gel, which in my opinion does not seem to relieve the discomfort.
I have knees that are more like a bag of spanners, but need to wear supports, but can be restrictive when scaling stiles and Deer fences. When descending a severe incline it is more about overcoming the pain barrier, but a diet of Ibuprofen and Voltarol 12 hour gel does help.As Clive stated, just walk at a pace you are comfortable with🙂
i have knee pain, also hip pain towards the end of the walk if the walk includes steps or a lot of inclines. i have seen my gp about it and i have had x-rays done, and have to book physio sessions at the local hospital. i now also need to speak to the gp to discuss the xr's. then go on from there.
I also had a tear in the medial meniscus. X-rays do not pick this up but a M R I scan did. Had the damage cut out and been perfect ever since. I 😀

wandering star: See previous. I have also got damaged tendons in my arm that x-rays do not show but MRI scans show so maybe you should ask for a scan next.

lllove life on 18/08/16 @ 18:48Have you considered kinetic tape? A friend of mine does small triathlons & she has found it helpful on her knee 🙂
