So Claudy 'n Deko
pursued their dream
o' workin' together
as a team.
Yep, as a team
tuh gi'us a bash,
includin' traditional
turkey 'n mash.
A bash so good
that we gottem
a gift
(amazingly no-one
used that chair lift).
The gifts were booze
tuh go wi' the rest
an' for Claudy some flowers
(sure...only the best...)
As Andy piped
'is piper's tune
'is kiltie made
the females swoon.
They tried tuh glance
up in that kilt
tuh find out 'ow
a Scottie's built.
Surfin' an' twistin'
we waltzed on that floor
an' DJ Neil
was begged for more.
We smooched an' tickled,
(some smooched again...)
an' that sixties playlist
was 10 outa 10

tbc....

on 06/12/15 @ 17:20

So we bopped an' bounced
till nigh on one
an' on that floor
the well-dressed shone.
We shone an' shimmered
an' glugged our fill
...let no-one say
we're over the hill.
Over the hill
an' far away
lad Glyn led us
(an' Heather - one day).
The Fire Guards
just oozed their charms
checkin' bags
an' testin' alarms,
checkin' that all
were in their seats,
only eatin'
2 veg an' 2 meats.
Checkin' the windows
an' also the doors,
checkin' who slept
on each o' those floors,
checkin' the floors
an' all 'o the signs,
"What a job!"
(worse than the mines...)
So thanks to the gang
who 'ad many laughs,
wondrin''ow Stella
sorted the maths,

tbc....

.....
'er corkage fare
was nowt but confusin',
leavin' Dek a bill
that was truly bruisin'.
But it really was worth
dippin' into our loot.
to savour a magic
OD Ball to boot!

(Phew - huge thanks to Deka, Claudette, Heather,
Glyn and Andy for all their inspiration and to all who came and made it rock)

Thank you Claudette and Deka for all your time spent making sure the Nightingale Centre was perfect for our Ball. It was good dancing and prating around with everyone! Wet walk lead by Glynn today (thanks Glynn) just can't scrub the grey mud off my feet! Sad to come home but hope they'll be another soon......Claudette?.......Deka?.........😉 Vx

A brilliant weekend, I will be reflecting on it when laid up in hospital tomorrow. Great laughs and nice to meet old and new friends.
A little dickie bird told me there could be a meet there in the spring or summer. Cannot wait.
Thanks all especially Derek and Claudette and Heather and Glynn.

To Claudette and Deka, here's my thanks -
Ten out ten this ball must rank.
From hill to vale, from Hurdlow to Eyam...
(I'm trying to rhyme like Carpe Diem).
Fresh air, good food, such fun was had -
Laughing and joking and dancing like mad.
Some great new memories - what can I say?
Hope we can do it again one day 🙂

SuSunny   on 06/12/15 @ 19:48

Carpe Diem!: Carpe Diem!: fantastic😀😀

UJUltreia (Jo & Alan)   on 06/12/15 @ 21:04

Such lovely people! However much we plan it can only be great if the people attending are in the right mood to enjoy it. So very glad you all came to have fun and it was!

A very special thanks to Glynn for stepping up and leading the walks although you weren't in attendance and sincere apologies for the meal mix up ☹

To Island Lad (Andy) for the wonderful pipes making this a moment to remember.

Heather you were a gem too. Derek - what can I say? Jonathan endless talents including the fab poem above

on 06/12/15 @ 22:07

Sunny for the wonderful poem retort and both Derek and Chris for the most beautiful flowers I'm feeling a very lucky girl this evening as I get ready for bed. Another very memorable weekend which marks 5 years on this site with amazing people I dearly call friends.

on 06/12/15 @ 22:10

Vonnie: Don't hold you're breathe - I'm still reeling!!!! 😀😀😈🤔🤔

JKJK28   on 07/12/15 @ 12:54

OMG. Ditto. It's always good to meet up with the old crew (Davem) but likewise chat with newbies.

Amaze balls.

FrFrankie  on 07/12/15 @ 18:10

An excellent walking weekend and a triumph of organisational skills. All credit guys.

gbgrey_brother   on 07/12/15 @ 20:31

lovely to see everybody, just too many to meet all properly and catch up with old friends at the same time. Thanks everyone for a lovely weekend and all the organisation that every one put in for pleasure 🙂

WiWiggy   on 07/12/15 @ 20:57

Carpe Diem: Overbrimming with excellence Sir, yet..... surely an error? Deka is troubled with corkage fees, the banks are going bust on his demand..... yet everyone there is only an OCCASIONAL drinker!!!

TOTrotOn   on 07/12/15 @ 21:08

The Mind is Willing: Deka: I cannot agree more with all that has already been said but would just like to add thanks for finding such a gem of a venue that worked perfectly. Phil & Jacquie🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

PhPhiltheetiler   on 07/12/15 @ 22:01

Many thanks to Claudette and Derek for organising a fantastic ball. Was a pleasure to pipe you both into dinner and make some new friends. (Always good to pipe in England Derek 😀) Think I speak on behalf of Sally when I say we both left with more than we bargained for but we're not complaining 🙂

SSSalAndy (Sally & Andy)   on 09/12/15 @ 0:04

Many thanks to Claudette and Derek for organising a fantastic event, and to everyone for making a southern newbie feel so welcome.

HDHikingDave   on 10/12/15 @ 22:34

Thanks one and all for your wonderful comments🙂Above, Claudette is saying more thank yous than a Hollywood star receiving an Oscar. All I can say is, thanks everybody that had an input especially Claudette without whom, the Ball would not have been.

DeDeka   on 11/12/15 @ 21:19

Hi Claudette and Derek. A bit belated but thanks for putting on a wonderful bash again. Always delightful to meet up and have a boogie with you lot. Had much fun and hopefully do it again next year!! 🙂
