Please ignore the typo on the thread title. Bloody modern phones predictive text and sausage fingers are the bain of my life

jem1000   on 24/09/18 @ 18:10 said:

Great idea! I would be up for this, invitations in Warwickshire are a rarity

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?   on 24/09/18 @ 20:22 said:

jem1000: Rocking horse poo is seen more often than a Warwickshire invite . I'm thinking it may have to be linear. I would like to incorporate Hatton locks, Royal Leyster Hospital, Warwick castle and St. Nicolas park in to the route. If it could end at Kenilworth castle that would be perfect, but no idea on distance yet. Definitely won't be circular though. What do you think?

landranger68   on 25/09/18 @ 8:44 said:

Warwickshire is really an un tapped OD area,The problem with linear walk is getting the logistics coordinated, would prefer a circular,as for me it gives a clear perspective of the area

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?   on 26/09/18 @ 8:38 said:

landranger68: Yes Keith. Ideally circular would be my preference. However I'm not sure it's possible with what I have planned. I'll get the map out of the library today and start planning it

Head for the Hills   on 26/09/18 @ 22:15 said:

Hi Ian, I've just done a lovely circular walk from Henley today. I'd be interested in other walks across the county.

Philtheetiler   on 26/09/18 @ 23:00 said:

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?: footpaths are ways between A &B, walks are what ever you decide. Please do IIf this was an invite I'd be a maybe as beyond my normal travelling distance for a day walk.

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?   on 27/09/18 @ 9:40 said:

Philtheetiler: I know the route I want to do and it shouldn't take too long to recce it. I'll run it on a Saturday with a shorter route on the Sunday which is nearer Stratford

Head for the Hills: Hi June. The Henley walk sounds great. Possible OD invite......maybe

jem1000   on 28/09/18 @ 20:34 said:

Hi Ian, lots of places of interest on your route. I don't know what the countryside is like between Warwick and Kenilworth but it is a nice walk up Hatton locks.

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?   on 28/09/18 @ 22:41 said:

Thanks everyone for your input. I have settled on the route now and just need to recce it. It will be starting at Kenilworth castle and Ending in Warwick. There will be a very special and unique visit to a historical WW2 site en route that isn't a place that is accessible to the public. I will be get permission from the landowner before including it though and confirm it on the invite. Keep a look out for the invites for the weekend. It will be a good double header and showcase Warwickshire at it's best

Philtheetiler   on 01/10/18 @ 9:32 said:

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?: Hi Ian, any further thoughts about a date for the weekend ? Phil

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?   on 01/10/18 @ 11:16 said:

Philtheetiler: Hi Phil. Provisionaly looking at weekends November 10/11 or 24/25. December 8/9. Failing any of those dates it will be Next year. How do these dates fit with you Phil and any other interested parties. Ian.

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?   on 01/10/18 @ 19:18 said:

Whoever may be intrested in doing this walk. Would you be intrested in doing a guided tour of Warwick once we get there? I've found this group of guides who seem very good and are well priced? What do you think? http://hjvday.wixsite.com/warwick-walkingtours

Philtheetiler   on 01/10/18 @ 23:14 said:

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?: Hi Ian, nothing important presently booked for any of the proposed dates above. Phil

jem1000   on 02/10/18 @ 20:53 said:

Hi Ian. I may not be able to make 24 Nov but the other dates are fine

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?   on 03/10/18 @ 21:34 said:

Philtheetiler: jem1000: I'm kind of thinking the December dates are my favourites also. I will need a few weeks to sort out the details folks. So please be patient. Ian

landranger68   on 04/10/18 @ 9:18 said:

Hi Ian,can only fit in the 24/25 November.Would be interested in Footpath conditions as there are so many countrywide that are not maintained. It was a real shock where there were so many sections almost impassable from Bicton to Craven Arms walking the Shropshire Way

Tinks   on 04/10/18 @ 20:12 said:

Hi Ian I would be interested in walks in this area but depending on dates and pace

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?   on 17/10/18 @ 17:31 said:

Tinks: That's great. I think the Warwickshire doubleheader will likely be after Xmas. I'm struggling to find the time to Recce the Warwick route atm. The pace is going to be leisurely and the distances will be no longer than 10 for both walks. The Sunday walk is 8 miles on mostly flatish terrain and it's also nearer to Stratford. Wooton Wawen/Edstone area. That one is already reccied .
When I do get time to recce the Warwick route. I'll do an update for best dates and hopefully that will mean more people will be interested. Be nice to get something going in the Midlands

Tinks   on 18/10/18 @ 11:52 said:

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?: Sounds good …. Was going to cancel my subscription yet again but I have decided to hang fire a bit longer and hopefully will be up for this after Xmas.I will keep an eye out for the invite ….Thanks

I am interested if available on the dates

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?   on 04/11/18 @ 19:45 said:

jem1000: landranger68: Head for the Hills: Philtheetiler: landranger68: Kate H: Hello all. The Warwick route has now been reccied and is a linear route from Kenilworth Castle to Warwick via Hatton Locks and the Grand Union Canal that is 12 miles and once in Warwick takes in all the main historical points of interest. There is a bus ride back to Kenilworth. I'm considering doing this invite in January as a 2 walk Warwickshire weekend. If this is reasonably successful I have also planned a future walking weekend in a different part of Warks/NorthH (tba). Which weekends would work best for you all for the Warwick weekend? The immediate choices are 5/6th of January or 19th/20th of January.

Kate H   on 04/11/18 @ 20:14 said:

I can't do 5th 6th but free 19th 20th at the mo

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?   on 04/11/18 @ 20:19 said:

Kate H: Ok thanks Kate. I've got 2 more routes sorted out that will have to be reccied. One is a Burton Dasset route and the other is near Fawsley Hall (Daventry). Both 7 to 10 miles....ish. See how this one goes before proceeding.
Thanks for the support, it's much appreciated. C'mon Midlands, let's get some regular walks on the go

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?   on 04/11/18 @ 20:43 said:

Tinks: See above. Hope you can make it

jem1000   on 04/11/18 @ 20:48 said:

Ian: at the moment I can do either of the Jan weekends.
The other routes sound good too. Burton Dassett is very near me; good views and the church is worth a visit. Walked near Fawsley Hall some years ago, it's quite pretty round there too. Looking forward to your walks

jem1000   on 04/11/18 @ 20:49 said:

Kate H: would be good to see you too

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?   on 04/11/18 @ 21:00 said:

jem1000: Thanks Jem. Invites will go up soon

Head for the Hills   on 05/11/18 @ 17:22 said:

Hi Ian, thanks for reccieing the Warwick/Kenilworth walk and suggesting the others. First weekend in January suits me as I'll be away from 11th to 20th on the Spine Race (marshalling it, not doing it!)

Philtheetiler   on 05/11/18 @ 20:12 said:

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?: either Jan. option is good for me just now.

iansmyname.....orisitjohn?   on 07/11/18 @ 20:18 said:

Head for the Hillshiltheetiler: Hi June, Hi Phil. First week in January is looking favourite so far. I'll go over the routes etc. at the weekend and they should go up sometime in the next week. Thanks for your patience
