Thank you June, I am revising my levels of fitness after "leading from the rear" and luckily had Dee as an excuse to stay in the pub while everyone else trotted happily (I hope) the last couple of miles back to their cars to drive back and join us for food! Gorgeous day with lovely people, thank you everyone for making the effort I won't be quite as ambitious next time, but I also melt in heat and it was hot!

Yes, huge thanks for this invite Ruth. It was good to re-visit the Malverns after so long, and to see old friends and make some new ones (both two-and four-legged).
Don't worry about losing me June, not a problem – it wasn't particularly difficult or remote terrain, and you knew I had maps. When you suggested I should go on alone to the end of the ridge after Chase End Hill summit and said you would wait, I think I went a bit further than you intended – I seem to remember you saying something about a gap in the tree line, but I went down to the road, losing quite a bit of height.

Indeed my access has now been restored and I can freely post on a Splendid day of smiling Malvern views , June I think Mark went on a wild journey to recover his 1979 running routes and got lost in time, Did you get back to the pub Mark before the light became night or Monday. Great meal afterwards. Thanks everyone see you on next one

I had a few issues on the return, Paul . No major navigational difficulties, but I'm certainly not as fit as I had hoped, wasn't carrying enough liquid, and was quite dehydrated by the time I got back to British Camp where I drank too much too quickly and then felt sick. After that, worsening blisters and the sole partially detaching from my right shoe added to the interest, but I didn't want to miss out any of the summits on the way back and by the time I eventually found the pub you had all gone! But still a brilliant day!

You seemed to be on a mission Mark and quite determined! I too wasn't as fit as I thought but we live and learn Hope you're fully recovered!

I'm fine apart from sore trotters, thanks Ruth - I hope you are too!

Well done all of you! Wish I could have been there. Not sure how far I would have got but it would have been at least as far as the ice cream
Ruth, do you fancy putting the invite up again in the autumn?

Actually it might be cooler then mightn't it Meg! And I'd have another chance to get fit enough to actually complete it I'll do an easier southern end hills walk on Sunday August 12th after a day at a festival at Eastnor Castle-that's already on as an invite. Might need to get as far as the ice-cream at British Camp again and back....
