I met M on the site about 2 years ago and we are now about to move in together. I keep recommending people to OD as it's been fantastic and I've loved being part of the 'family'.Thank you for everything.Vee

heatwave conditions or snow. I shall ascertain when the second bathroom at The Siabod is to be refurbished. The Pen y Pass youth hostel would be a great place, immaculate, their flagship place, dining area, bar, cooked breakfasts, space. But if there's interest I'll do some research. Only most bunkhouses are not really up to it.

Would be interested Catherine, and agree it would be good to get sole use of a bunkhouse if the interest is there early enough. Thought Bens Bunkhouse was a great place.

You could try Idwal Cottage YHA, which also allows camping and has ample parking. This would relieve you of the burden of finding a bunkhouse. But, I agree, sole use of a quality bunkhouse would be better.

have you considered the plas y brenin bunk houses - they are really nice

M3   on 22/09/17 @ 23:26 said:

mattsmyname: Bens bunkhouse was good as it had space. Siabod Bunkhouse was clean and lovely but smaller kitchen. Great you're interested Matt. I've led a sheltered life but cannot see how anywhere could impress me more than Snowdonia.
Stephen: Thank you I'll look into it. But if they serve breakfast and dinner too, that might be a life saver. Also camping options may suit those hardy souls. Between the Glyderau and The Carneddau good choice. Many thanks

I'd be interested in the whole week if in early April (my family are away then) - but that's probably too early for you. Or I could probably manage a few days around the early May Bank Holiday on 7 May...
I stayed at Idwal Cottage YH at Easter about 3 years ago by the way - during the big freeze. There was a great atmosphere there for the solo traveller and those in very small groups, not least because it is self-catering only and no pubs within walking distance. But I do feel that atmosphere would have been spoilt by a large group...

Louise - living life: No I hadn't many thanks but I will do now. Fab.

Hi Catherine. It would be great if you were to organise this. I can't commit this far ahead, but would love to walk/scramble with OD friends in beautiful Snowdonia. Maybe provide alternative routes if needed

M3: I would be massively tempted if someone......i.e. (Jane ) were to put an inite on for Tryfan by Heather Terrace, but I'm only surmising. I would be happy to lead any alternate routes that may need to be arranged. Ben's bunkhouse for the week would be ideal.

Iansmyname....orisitjohn: Thanks that's a kind offer, it's good to have alternatives. I've never done Heather Terrace. I'll ask Jane if she were interested if she may consider it. I presume you'll wish to do the knife edge though Ian?

I'll be around in May but away most of April. May is a better bet as you might still need your crampons in April.

I'd be very interested in the week. Thanks Catherine

I'd be up for it as I've not yet conquered Snowdonia
